If you’re looking for a winter getaway that keeps everyone happy, Great Wolf Lodge is hard to beat!
We recently stayed at the Great Wolf Lodge Grand Mound with our family of six during their Snowland Celebration, and it was an amazing experience and one that I would highly recommend: festive, fun, and as always, family-friendly!

First Impressions & Check-In
As soon as we arrived, the lodge was fully transformed for Snowland. Festive twinkling lights, winter decor, and family-friendly holiday made it feel just like the holidays. We have stayed at Great Wolf Lodge before, but never during Snowland, so this was truly magical!
Check-in was smooth, and the staff made the experience feel welcoming, which especially appreciated when traveling with multiple kids!
Our Room: Comfortable for a Family of Six

One of our favorite parts about visiting Great Wolf Lodge is the themed rooms! This time we stayed in an Wolf Den Suite and it was perfect for our family.
This room includes a twin bunk bed and twin day bed separated in a “wolf den” from the rest of the room. The room also lincluded a queen bed, and pull-out bed (that we didn’t need but is also nice to have!).
Finding accommodations that work for a family of six isn’t always easy, but Great Wolf Lodge makes it easy. Our room had plenty of space for everyone to sleep comfortably and enough room to spread out without feeling cramped.
Snowland Celebration: Holiday Magic Everywhere

Snowland is what truly made this trip feel special! The entire lodge was decorated for the season, and there were festive activities happening throughout the day.
Great Wolf Lodge annual Snowland runs from November 24th to January 6th and includes the following themed activities:
- Frosty Fest Family Dance Party
- Snowland Bingo
- Snowland Competition Games
- Snowland Scavenger Hunt
- Snowland Trivia
- Snowland Arts & Crafts
- T’was the Night Before Snowland Yoga Tails
We did everything from holiday crafts to themed games and dance parties. Santa even made an appearance!
Indoor Water Park Fun (Perfect for Winter!)

One of the best parts of visiting Great Wolf Lodge in the winter is the indoor water park (it’s always 84 degrees).
My kids love a good water park, and Great Wold Lodge is always their favorite! The water park works well for our family because there is something for everyone and every thrill-level.
Indoor water park attractions you can expect to find at Great Wolf Lodge Grand Mound include:
- Fort Mackenzie Water Playground
- Slap Tail Pond Wavepool
- Cub Paw Pool
- Chinook Cove Basketball Pool
- Big Foot Pass Lillypads
- South Hot Springs Hot Tub
- Water Slides: River Canyon Run, Alberta Falls, Whooping Hollow, Totem Towers, and Howlin’ Tornado
The kids could have stayed in the water forever, and we loved having easy access back to our room for breaks!
More Than Just the Water Park

Beyond the water park, there were so many family-friendly activities to enjoy. We loved participating in Snowland-themed crafts and events. Even in the evenings, there was plenty to do, from dance parties to story time!
More attractions we did on this trip included:
- Build-a-Bear Workshop (right inside the lodge!)
- MagiQuest
- Oliver’s Mining Co
- Northern Lights Arcade
- Moonstone Mirror Maze
It was nice having options for everyone! My 6 and 7 year old love MagiQuest every time we go to Great Wolf Lodge and my 3 and 1 year old especially loved Build-a-Bear Workshop.
Dining Made Easy

One of the hardest parts of traveling with young kids is going out to eat! Great Wolf Lodge offers several on-site dining options that made meal time so much easier.
Whether we needed a quick bite between activities or a sit-down meal, there were plenty of kid-friendly choices that worked for everyone (and a Starbucks for mom and dad)!
Not having to leave the resort for meals was another big plus for us and one of the many reasons we love our trips to the Great Wolf Lodge!
Final Thoughts

Our stay at Great Wolf Lodge Grand Mound during the Snowland Celebration was the perfect winter getaway for our family of six. Between the festive atmosphere, endless activities, and all-in-one convenience, it checked all the boxes for a family-friendly trip.
