Sample 10 month baby schedule and routine. This is the eat, wake, sleep babywise schedule and routine we follow with my 10 month old (8-12 months).

It took 10 months, but Corbin has finally learned to love his naps. All babies are different so don’t worry if yours hasn’t yet. With consistent scheduliing you will get there!

He would probably nap much longer if I let him, but one important thing I’ve learned at this age is that I must limit his daytime sleep in order to get good nighttime sleep.

Most 10 month olds need about 13-14 hours of sleep per day, most of this being overnight. Corbin gets about 11-11.5 hours overnight and 2-2.5 hours during the day with 2 naps.

Scheduling naps is something we started at a very young age (see our 4 month & 6 month sleep schedules).

Scheduling gives us all sanity since we can plan our day around the times Corbin will nap. My son has also learned this schedule and anticipates nap and feeding time. He has learned that nap time is for sleeping and this allows him to be well-rested for meals and play time.

Of course, when he is sick or has other needs we back off the schedule and allow him to sleep more and more often if needed.

Parent Directed Feeding

Like with our 4 month & 6 month schedules, we follow a parent directed feeding and sleeping schedule and treat it more like a routine.

Keeping our 10 month old on schedule will help him get enough calories during the daytime hours (not needing to wake up at night) and will keep him from getting overtired.

Here is the baby sleep schedule we have been following for our 10 month old. If your baby is older check out our one year old schedule.

10 Month Baby Schedule

  • 8:00 Breakfast ?
  • 10:00-11:30 Nap ?
  • 11:30 Bottle ?
  • 12:30 Lunch ?
  • 2:30-3:30 Nap ?
  • 3:30 Bottle ?
  • 4:30 Snack ?

The 3-3-4 hour schedule

One key difference between our 10 month baby schedule and 6 month schedule is the amount of time baby is awake between naps and before bedtime.

For our 6 month schedule, Corbin had 2.5, 3, and 3.5 hours of awake time before his naps and bedtime (2.5 before first nap, 3 before second nap).

However, he has begun to “stretch his waketimes” and can be awake for longer periods of time now that he has reached 10 months old. If you count up the amount of time the baby is awake between each nap, you get 3 hrs before the first nap, 3 hrs before the second nap, and 4 hours before bed time. As a result, this is often times called the 3-3-4 schedule.

Dropping Bottles

Additionally, another thing to note about our schedule is that we do not do a bottle before bed. We just dropped this around 10 months after he consistently refused this bottle.

Par of the eat-wake-sleep routine is to separate eating and sleeping. Corbin is definitely self-weaning and doesn’t finish his 3 bottles. He also hasn’t been interested in his night time bottle in a while.

Check with your doctor if you have questions about weaning from bottles/breast feeding!

Because he is drinking less formula, he has started to eat more solid foods. Solid food is not the primary source of nutrition until he is closer to one, but he loves eating foods and practicing for when he is weaned completely.
